Information for Sponsored Students
If you accept to come to Curtin to study it is important to report to the International Sponsored Student Unit (ISSU) in the International Office (Bentley campus Building 103) as soon as you arrive to meet your delegated Sponsored Student Officer who will assist you throughout your studies and liaise with your sponsor. The ISSU has three dedicated staff members who aim to ensure that students are provided with quality support during their studies at Curtin.
Visa Processing for Sponsored Students:
For information about visa processing for sponsored students please download a copy of the Sponsored Student Information Form.
Disclosure of Information Form for Sponsored Students:
Please download a Disclosure of Information form from our Forms page. Completing this form enables Curtin to provide and disclose to your sponsor information that is related to your enrolment, admission and academic studies at the University.
Services for Sponsored Students:
The ISSU provides the following services (at no extra charge) for sponsors and sponsored students:
- Welcome reception.
- Individual case management. Students will have access to a delegated Sponsored Student Officer regarding any issues that arise during their studies. Sponsored Student Officers can liaise between the student, sponsor and Curtin.
- Identification of "students at risk".
- End of semester academic reports provided to sponsors.
- Annual research progress reports provided to sponsors.
- Pastoral support for families including assistance in obtaining schooling for school aged dependants.
- Social events including an informal sponsored student graduation.
Extension to Sponsorship:
If a student's sponsorship expires and an extension of the sponsorship is required it is the student's responsibility to ensure they are granted an extension by their sponsor. In such instances the sponsor must complete a new Sponsored Student Information Form or send a new Letter of Financial Guarantee which reflects the new end date of sponsorship. The Form or Letter must be returned to the ISSU in the International Office as soon as possible.
