Information for Sponsors
Curtin's International Sponsored Student Unit (ISSU) ensures that the student and the sponsoring organisation receive a high level of service from the University. It is essential that sponsoring organisations and their students be correctly identified so that students' entitlements and needs can be identified, the appropriate services delivered and proper invoices can be prepared. The ISSU has three dedicated staff members who have a wealth of experience working with international sponsor organisations and their students.
Services for Sponsors:
The ISSU provides the following services (at no extra charge) for sponsors:
- Welcome reception.
- Individual case management. Students will have access to a delegated Sponsored Student Officer regarding any issues that arise during their studies. Sponsored Student Officers can liaise between the student, sponsor and Curtin.
- Identification of "students at risk".
- End of semester academic reports provided to sponsors.
- Annual research progress reports provided to sponsors.
- Pastoral support for families including assistance in obtaining government (public) schooling for children.
- Social events including an informal sponsored student graduation.
- Tuition fee invoices sent to sponsoring organisations.
Additional Programs Available on a Fee-for-Service Basis:
For information about additional programs offered by Curtin, please see the Additional Programs Information sheet on our Forms page.
Essential Sponsor Forms:
Sponsored Student Information Form
A Sponsored Student Information Form must be completed for each student by the sponsoring body. It is essential the sponsor completes a form for every student they are sponsoring. The form also contains information about visa processing for sponsored students. To download the form, please visit our Forms page.
Visa Processing for Sponsored Students:
For information about visa processing for sponsored students please download a copy of the Sponsored Student Information Form.
Sponsor's Agreement
Sponsors from private organisations or foreign governments must ensure that the sponsoring body completes the Sponsored Student Agreement Form. Only one Agreement is required between the sponsor and Curtin and is valid for 3 years from the date it is signed unless a shorter period of validity is otherwise mutually agreed by the parties in writing. If the sponsoring body does not return the Sponsored Student Agreement Form to the International Office, the student will be liable for payment of their own tuition fees. To download the form, please visit our Forms page.
Once sponsorship arrangements are in place, invoices will be sent to the sponsor who will make payment of the tuition fees on the students' behalf. Sponsors can expect to receive an invoice prior to the due date. Tuition fee payments for sponsored students are required by the due date in accordance with the invoice. The University does not invoice sponsors for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) renewal. Students must pay their own OSHC renewal and, if required, send their OSHC receipt to the sponsor for reimbursement. Sponsors should not send living expenses with tuition fee payments, as the University does not disburse student living expenses.
