Western Australia: The Setting For Success

Curtin University of Technology is located in Perth, capital city of Western Australia (WA). Perth is clean, safe and modern, with political and social stability and one of the lowest costs of living of any Australian capital city. Weekly living costs for single students in Perth can be as little as INR11, 000.

Western Australia is currently experiencing a resources and mining boom, producing strong economic growth and solid job opportunities across a variety of industries. In 2006-07, Western Australia's economic activity increased by 8.8% – the largest increase in Australia. WA also has the second-lowest unemployment rate in Australia: 3.3% (March 2008 figure) compared to the national average of 4.1%. The variety of job opportunities in Perth means that students can easily find part-time employment while studying.

Western Australia also offers a range of premier tourist attractions unique to Australia, including pristine beaches, old growth forests, award-winning wine-growing regions, world-class marine parks and great surfing and fishing locations.

Perth has a strong Indian community that supports students through associations, home country food and places of worship. The city is well located in relation to India. Perth shares the same time zone as Singapore and Malaysia, and flight time from Singapore is just 4.5 hours.
