Recognition of Prior Learning
Credit towards a Curtin qualification may be granted to applicants with qualifications from other accredited educational institutions, including polytechnics or universities.
Students may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in a course, either because they have covered the work in other academic areas or because they have undertaken relevant employment activities. Curtin's policy on RPL is to recognise and reward previous performance while, at the same time, ensuring that a student completes a sufficient number of units to warrant the conferral of an award.
Students seeking to transfer to Curtin from the institution in which they are currently studying may receive credit for up to two-thirds of the course. For example, if a student completes a Business Diploma at Singapore Polytechnic, they would receive at least one-year RPL towards a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Curtin.
